MD Law’s Legal 500 Recognition marks an exciting milestone for our Insolvency and Restructuring team, featured for the first time in the prestigious industry guide. The Legal 500 UK 2026 highlights MD Law as a Firm to Watch in the Yorkshire Insolvency and Corporate Recovery category, recognising our expertise and client-focused approach.
The Legal 500 UK, which is now in its 39th year, is an annual, independent legal directory, based on detailed submissions and work highlights from law firms, as well as feedback from clients, referees, and peers.
The 2026 listings, highlight the Broomhall-based firm as a Firm to Watch in the Yorkshire Insolvency and Corporate Recovery category.

The insolvency team, which advises individuals, companies and insolvency professionals on all insolvency and business recovery issues, is lead by MD Law founder Matthew Dixon, with partners Neil Kelly and Carl Jones plus solicitors Elliott Hill, Josh Stilgoe and Beth Bainbridge, and paralegal Caroline McSherry.
Founder Matthew Dixon, who has built a successful team of corporate lawyers and support staff at the expanding firm, said: “Our first ever submission, and ranking, reflects the dedication, expertise, and collaborative work of colleagues across the firm, and highlights MD Law’s commitment to providing outstanding legal services to our clients, which has been backed up by direct feedback for the directory.
“Insolvency law plays a crucial role in managing financial distress, providing mechanisms for debt resolution, and protecting the rights of creditors and debtors alike, something which is so important in this difficult business climate that many companies are facing.”
Research for the guide took place in early 2025, where researchers conducted thousands of interviews and assessed over 15000 submissions from law firms, of which only a selected few make the list.
MD Law celebrated its tenth year in business in May and combines technical expertise and experience with a strong commercial and practical approach.
Insolvency specialisms include litigious insolvency work such as pursuit or defence claims against directors of insolvent companies, carrying out investigations into the affairs of insolvent companies and the conduct of their directors, and director disqualification proceedings.
