On June 6th, we were proud to attend the Sheffield RUFC Summer Ball, a memorable black-tie event held at the picturesque Abbeydale venue in aide of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).
Kevin Sinfield OBE, former Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain captain and current England Rugby Union coach, was the guest speaker at the ball and is widely respected for his on-field achievements in rugby league and off-field achievements in rugby union, but more recently his remarkable and unprecedented fundraising efforts for MND research. Sinfield delivered a moving speech about his experiences in both codes of rugby, his time playing alongside Rob Burrow and the purpose that Burrow’s later diagnosis of MND provided to him. The speech was a powerful reminder of the potential that sport and community can hold when united for a cause and the importance of continued support and awareness for those affected by MND.
We are honoured to have been part of the evening and commend Sheffield RUFC for their support to the MNDA.
